NE555 Precision Timer

Description

The NE555 monolithic timing circuit is a highly stable controller capable of producing accurate time delays, or oscillation. In the time delay mode of operation, the time is precisely controlled by one external resistor and capacitor. For a stable operation as an oscillator, the free running frequency and the duty cycle are both accurately controlled with two external resistors and one capacitor. The circuit may be triggered and reset on falling waveforms, and the output structure can source or sink up to 200 mA.

Pinout ( Pin diagram )

NE555 datasheet pinout

1. GND (Ground): A ground pin for the flow of charge.

2. TRIG (Trigger): This is a pin that receives the input signal used to start the timer operation.

3. OUT (Output): This is the pin that generates the output signal of the timer.

4. RESET: This pin receives the input signal used to initialize the timer.

5. CTRL (Control Voltage): This is a pin that controls timing using an external voltage.

6. TH (Threshold): This is a pin that sets the threshold to stop the timer operation.

7. DIS (Discharge): This pin discharges the external capacitor.

8. VCC (Power): This pin supplies power to the IC.
