Descriptions

The LM324 series are low–cost, quad operational amplifiers with true differential inputs. They have several distinct advantages over standard operational amplifier types in single supply applications. The quad amplifier can operate at supply voltages as low as 3.0 V or as high as 32 V with quiescent currents about one–fifth of those associated with the MC1741 (on a per amplifier basis). The common mode input range includes the negative supply, thereby eliminating the necessity for external biasing components in many applications. The output voltage range also includes the negative power supply voltage.

The LM324 consists of four independent, high-gain, internally frequency-compensated operational amplifiers designed specifically to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages.

These circuits consist of four independent, high gain operational amplifiers with frequency compensation implemented internally. They operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. Operation from split power supplies is also possible and the low-power supply current drain is independent of the magnitude of the power supply voltage.

The LM324 is an integrated circuit (IC) containing four high-performance operational amplifiers. These ICs are widely regarded as representative operational amplifiers used in many applications. Here is more information about the LM324:

1. Operation and function:

(1) The LM324 operates from a single power supply and supports a typical supply range of ±2V to ±18V.

(2) It has built-in four independent operational amplifiers, and each amplifier has independent input and output.

(3) Inputs and outputs operate symmetrically for bipolar signals and are controlled using a Reference Ground.

(4) Input and output can be connected with resistance and capacitance suitable for use in high frequency and high power items.

2. Key Features:

(1) Low Input Offset Voltage and Offset Current: The LM324 minimizes the input amplifier’s offset and is ideal for precision measurement or control applications.

(2) Wide supply voltage range: Operates in a typical power range and can be used in a variety of power environments.

(3) Wide temperature range: The LM324 can operate from -40°C to +125°C, allowing it to be used in a wide range of temperature environments.

(4) Various package options: It is provided in various packages such as DIP (Dual In-line Package) and SOIC (Small Outline Integrated Circuit) to support convenient use.

3. Applications:

(1) The LM324 is typically used in a variety of applications including signal amplification, filtering, comparison, precision measurement, and control.

(2) Applications include audio amplifiers, temperature and pressure sensor interfaces, battery charge and discharge management, signal manipulation, transducer interfaces, and more.

Features

In the linear mode, the input common-mode voltage range includes ground and the output voltage can also swing to ground, even though operated from only a single power supply voltage. The unity gain crossover frequency and the input bias current are temperature-compensated.

An on-chip capacitor in each of the amplifiers provides frequency compensation for unity gain. These devices are designed specially to operate from either single or dual supplies, and the differential voltage range is equal to the power-supply voltage. Low power drain and an input common-mode voltage range from 0V to V+ -1.5V (single-supply operation) make these devices suitable for battery operation.

1. Short Circuited Protected Outputs

2. True Differential Input Stage

3. Single Supply Operation: 3.0 V to 32 V

4. Low Input Bias Currents: 100 nA Maximum (LM324A)

5. Four Amplifiers Per Package information

6. Internally Compensated

7. Common Mode Range Extends to Negative Supply

8. Industry Standard Pinouts

9. ESD Clamps on the Inputs Increase Ruggedness without Affecting Device Operation
